Meeting Minutes from 31st RHHA Meeting – 11/12/2013

RHHA Meeting #31, November 12, 7pm at Anita and Joe Herring’s.

In Attendance:

Don Dunbar

Joe and Carrie Zambrana

Julie Rogers

Anita Herring

Joe Fyannes

Greg Whitesell

DON: Did everyone hear? We got the permit now. Work will not begin earlier than April because they are working on a job at a marina. He said it will be April or May.

Anita: I think we should get some other estimates because things are much cheaper during the winter.

Greg W: The only thing is that he has 1/3 of our money.

Consensus of the room is that we shop around and try to get a better deal. Don said he was willing.

Don: Here is the document that we got from the county during the hearing. It doesn’t say until page 11 that, “we recommend that the exemption and the variance be granted”. (Don passed around document.)

DON: Okay, let’s get started.

Minutes from last month? Additions? Deletions? Motion to approve. Second. YES all approved. Minutes entered into record.

Treasurer’s Report:

Check balance $396.34

Savings: $6,340.17

We had two expenses:

$70.00 for signs for the Variance and Special Exception

$21.22 for photos of the pier to be printed to take to the hearing.

Money collected:

A total of $700 has now been collected for 2013 dues.

A total of $4,000 has been collected for the Special Assessment for the pier and other repairs, 8 households paid.

There are two households that remain delinquent for 2010, 2011, and 2012. (totaling $600).

We have paid 1/3 of the cost of the pier project to the contractor already. We have enough to pay the other 1/3 that will be due upon the start of work… BUT we don’t have enough to cover the final payment yet.

Don: By the time we collect everything well have enough.

Only one slip has yet been paid for, so the slips will also generate additional revenue.

Don: We also want to put in the minutes that anyone who is interested in a slip needs to be put their names on the list. We will need to go by seniority first to determine who will be able to get a slip. Then after that, we will follow the list. We want to work with a waiting list for slips.

I guess Joe Zambarana will be in charge of the list. If anyone is interested in putting their names as interested in a slip and want to be added to the list, talk to Joe, Don, or Greg.

Don: Is there any additional discussion on the pier?

Don: Oh, the other thing about slips is that no one who is not in good standing with the RHHA cannot have a slip.

Joe F: Well that only makes sense.

Anita: Would it be possible for an older resident to get a slip and then give it away to a friend? For example, say I really like Julie and I want her to have a slip, but she just moved here. It would be someone only from the neighborhood.

Random discussion whether or not certain types of pier activity would be allowed or not allowed. (Some things were asked, and some answers were offered from the hip, but nothing was official).

Don: We will have to make a policy document and have everyone read it over and vote on it. We will work on those rules/policies next year, in January. One of the those rules will be that every boat will have to have liability insurance.

Don: Anything else we need to talk about? We will see about the decking after we get through the other part of the pier.

Don: Now we can talk about the Christmas party. Rita says thanks for having it every year (to Joe F.)

I’ve got the 2nd tues, the 10th of December at 7pm. Potluck, bring a dish to share, the asscociation is going to buy the alcohol. (Christmas Pary at Joe’s and Jans house 3909 Rhode Harbor Road.)

Joe F. – The main thing is that we really need a head count. So many people didn’t show up. Make sure that the email asked for a head count, so that the appropriate amount of stuff is bought. Last year we ended up having a bunch of alcohol left over.

Don: Next meeting is the Christmas Pary at Joe’s and Jans house 3909 Rhode Harbor Road.

Bring a dish to share or a dessert. RHHA will pay for drinks. Greg, can you send out a notice?

What do you want or need for alcohol?

Joe: We really need a head count before we can determine that.

Don – We need to know whether or not they are beer, wine, hard liquor or soda drinkers.

Joe – So many people that said that they were going to be there didn’t show up. So we had a ton of stuff left over.

MAKE it OBVIOUS in the invite that WE NEED an ACCURATE HEAD COUNT.

The January meeting will be at Don and Rita’s house on Tuesday 14th, 7pm and will discuss pier administration issues.

Anita: Motion to close the meeting.

Second.

Meeting adjourned: 7:40pm.
