Pier Update:
Really doesn’t look good. They basically, critical area head honcho said, in charge of zoning between the county and every one else. she knew exactly why plat note was there. The choice was making a community marine pier, or have private piers on the properties. Earl basically chose to put private pier up and made the community pier only for crabbing and fishing. He was given the choice and he went with the one that paid him the most. They are trying to look up the back and fourth between the engineer and the county to see when it was placed on the plat. The lawyer and the guy from Macrone engineers. They say that we should still be grand fathered in. But she said that it was implemented in 79, but it was in full force back in 1984. The photo from 1982 showed no piers existed yet. They will look at the information from the archives, and determine whether or not we should fight. She just kept implying that that is what the lawyers were for. They said that they think that they will just shut us down and not work with us. No body knew that there was a choice made. She said that we could possibly buy the land next to the pier. But it could possibly be an option to put a community pier on that property. She could save tax money, and we could give her a slip. It would be worth trying to contact them to see if they wanted to donate the property to the RHHA.
Joe….the money’s not there anymore, and no one is going to be wanting to put more money toward the lawyers who haven’t really.
We need to go down to the county and find out whether or not the taxes are being. Joe Z will go down to courthouse and check to see what’s going on with it.
